I learned how to use a lighter today. I have this cool seal thing (wax and seal, to seal envelopes)... and I needed to light the wick on the wax, so I had to get myself a lighter. Anyway... it's SUPER cool! I have some catch up work to do next week... and there's an orchestra concert tomorrow. Finals are the week after this. Aaaa!!!

Got back from ballroom dancing at midnight. Wow. That was great! Dancing is such fun! They even played the tango an extra couple of times, since we told them that it was our best dance. I learned some foxtrot and some chacha and some samba. Also, this really cool new dance that seems to be choreographed for all who dance it (meaning that there is no variation... so it's a dance in unison with everyone else). We did a rotating circle thing to match up dance partners, too. It was sooo fun! I'm definitely going back there some other time. :)

Today was the thesis parade. I wanted to go to it, but I had a Leadership Committee meeting. Darn it. Basically, all the graduating seniors (in this case, for the December graduation) march from the Registrar's (?) to the Library, where they toss their Senior Theses (extra copies, not the originals) into a big bonfire. Then, the party begins... Right now, I believe they're all still in front of Eliot Hall, dancing and banging on drums and big, heavy things. I, however, am here finishing up my Humanities paper. I think I have a direction! I'm going to disprove Glaucon's argument about the ring of Gyges (it's pretty impractical to begin with), then I'm going to show that even with such logical fallacies on Glaucon's part, Socrates _still_ cannot come to a firm conclusion on his part. What is his solution? The cities are all ruled by philosoper-kings. Not only does that sound like some sort of propaganda, but it also seems very much biased TOWARDS HIMSELF! It's like me writing a book on politics that tells everyone that the President of the US should ALWAYS be a person with the first name Beverly and middle name Amy. Hey, whaddya know, I'm the only one who fits that category! Guess you guys all should vote for me!

Did an emergency drill for the Reactor tonight. I got to be the "Operator of Record." (I recorded everything that went on during the emergency, from putting on gloves to checking the filters to calling the NRC. Oh yeah, and the CAM, GSM, APM, and RAM readings, too.) Dude, an hour of emergency drill took up like 7 pages!!!

Today is Jesse's birthday. I bought him a rubber band gun from Canada. It's pretty darn cool. I want to keep it.

I changed my idea about my Humanities paper... I'm going to answer the following:
At the beginning of Book II of the Republic, Glaucon tells Socrates the story of the ring of Gyges (357c-360d). How much of a threat is the story to Socrates's view that justice is always more profitable than injustice? By the end of the Republic, how does Socrates answer the problem posed by the ring of Gyges? Is his answer a good one?

Tomorrow night, my ballroom instructor is taking us out to go ballroom dancing. How awesome is that?! I'll be all decked out in my new ballroom dancing dress. Yay! (and new shoes too!).

Okay, enough procrastination... on to my Hum paper!

Bought a dress for ballroom dancing today. Yes, I took a few hours off to go shopping at the mall. Wow. There is a world out there! Back to Plato.

So much work to do this week. I need to straighten out my views on Plato/Socrates... then worry about thinking about Aristotle. Aaaa!!!

My computing professor looks like and sounds like Josh Groban. And you know what? He's going to actually buy us those donuts we put on the surveys at the beginning of the Semester. (He asked us for our favorite donuts.)

Anyway, you know who'll be performing in LA on December 19th at 7:30 pm at some bookstore? That's right. JOSH GROBAN. I NEED to go to this!!! Grr... why does my plane leave on December 20th?! JOSH GROBAN!!!!!!

You know what's a good thing about not dating Jesse? Well, the intrinsic value, first of all; AND the added instrumental value of being able to put JOSH GROBAN on my desktop without having to worry that my boyfriend will see it. According to Socrates and Aristotle, it's ALL good.

Today, my mom called me. My dog was sick/suffering, so they had to put him to sleep. :( So sad.
