So, when I took the bus the other day, there were these three Mexican guys... they were speaking Spanish the whole time (I think about me, since they pointed a couple of times). I avoided them. ...it was really cool, though, because they watched as I got off at Reed College, and walked toward the magnificent structure that is Eliot Hall. Take that, people on the bus!
Knitting night went well. Dude, I'm addicted to crocheting! Well, back to studying!

I took the bus all by myself today. I went all the way to Wal-Mart... pretty darn far... dude, that's like 30 minutes away! (Story: I put off getting knitting needles for so long. Yesterday, I went to Fred Meyers (the local store here... something like a Super K-Mart), but they ran out of knitting needles! Aaaa! Yesterday, I also went out to lunch with Gus, my peer mentor. We went to the Cup and Saucer cafe on Hawthorne... good quiche... mmmm... What else did I do yesterday? Give a reactor tour... and math review session. Apparently I should go see Cruel Intentions... according to Bobby. Today, I was supposed to study. I'm doing my physics formula sheet right now. Later today, Econ party and Leadership meeting. Earlier today, work at the Health center, Peer Mentor lunch meeting, and Reed Arts Week meeting. Wow. Busy days for Reading Weekend! O yeah, and tonight is the knitting night I've been planning all this time! I also talked to Ann Casey, the phys ed coordinator, and we're going to plan a ballroom night at Reed. This will be the formal that's actually a formal... and NOT the beerfest the winter formal was.

Hmm... wish list, eh? Okay, I'll make a wish list.
1. Josh Groban's In Concert CD
2. Josh Groban himself
3. Time (No, not a clock)
4. But hey, I do need a new watch
5. A boyfriend who isn't Jesse
6. Jewelry is always nice; but it can't be that fake stuff
7. Toe socks
8. PJ pants
9. A nuclear reactor operator license from the NRC
10. A scarf (dude, it's cold in Portland!)
... I'll think of more after finals are over.

I'll be okay for finals. Just four more days of hard core studying, and everything will be all right. I think, realistically, studying isn't necessary. If one shows up and pays attention, it's all about comprehension and memory. Studying? Who needs it? :) [Well, I guess going on the Aristotle path, study would mean understanding would mean utimate happiness... so, there you go.]
The admissions office just spoiled a bunch of us tonight. We went out to eat at Typhoon!, a really upscale Thai restaurant. Appetizers, drinks, and dessert included. Wow... appetizer platter, mango juice, and creme brulee!!! (and don't forget about the main course items... I had the duck curry. Yum!). I think overall, that was a $30/person meal. Yikes! That's nice of them. Bobby's mom went with us, too (she works in admissions). Apparently, Bobby prospied last Friday and neglected to tell me about it. Anyway, back to studying. Tonight, MIDNIGHT STARTUP!

I have so much stuff to do on Thursday and Friday this week... and they gave us those two days off from school so we could study, too! What happened there?! Oh well. To sum up the rest of my week: Tuesday: physics, newspaper; Wednesday: Dorm Host Dinner, Ballroom Dancing dress up day, Midnight Start up for Reactor; Thursday: Reactor tour, Peer mentor lunch; Friday: Peer Mentor lunch, Reed Arts Week meeting, Economics party, Leadership Initiatives Committee Meeting, and Knitting night (which I am planning). Aaaa!!! And I need to buy knitting stuff before Friday!!!

I'm not the only one completely confused by Aristotle's logic! There are major holes in his consistency. So, everyone should judge what is happiness/right/just/good according to what their own being is... yet, understanding is equivalent to happiness, and one can only be happy if one is studying and understanding?! Hmm... seems to be a little shaky there. Let's just not believe Aristotle and move on. (I guess one cool thing about it all was that just about every little anecdote Schroeder/Mr. Moreno gave us was in Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. The building a cathedral, the being happy, the altruism... everything!... well, maybe not the angel on top of the Christmas tree one.) Well, now that that's settled, I should get on to Physics hw! :)

I went to the Winter Formal tonight. I originally did not want to go (1, because I didn't have a date, and 2, because I knew there'd be drinking). ... but somehow Bobby and I ended up going together. I stayed for the first hour and a half... it was all pretty nice up until then. When people started drinking and smoking, I couldn't stand it anymore. The floor was getting sticky, and the people were getting even more inebriated. So, Bobby walked me back to my dorm... then he went back to the dance. I spent the next couple hours playing Go. I beat Erik! Yay! :) Forrest came back from the dance and he mentioned something about Bobby making out with some other girl. I guess I can't really say anything; after all, we aren't going out... but still, it makes one feel so worthless. At about 1:30, I started getting worried; 1, that he was passed out drunk somewhere, or that 2, he was drunk and about to drive home... so, I went to go look for him (after all, he called his mom right before hand, and he told her that he was going to the dance with me... and since she already knows me, I figured she would have a bad impression of me if her son came home drunk after a night at a dance with me). Anyway, I ran into him on the blue bridge and he walked me back to my dorm. Hopefully, he's not inebriated, and hopefully he's driving home right now instead of going back to the dance to get drunk or whatnot. Apparently, the winter formal is supposed to be an excuse for people to drink, dance very suggestively, and to go home at the end of the night with someone else to have sex or something. Why didn't I know this before? I wouldn't have wasted the $10 to get in (well, actually Bobby paid for it... so, hmm...). I'm definitely not going next year.
