Ellen sent me a print of one of her Josh drawings. She's a really good artist! Wow. I think I should draw Josh one of these days. I do now have a cross stitch pattern of him, so there's something to do this summer!

Rob Fischel is an amazing composer -- I saw his thesis again yesterday at a special concert for music majors here. Anna's thesis was okay, and Andrew's thesis was a bit unorganized in terms of harmonies. You may be hearing from Rob Fischel in the future -- I am almost certain of this.

I picked up a Reed Student Handbook yesterday when Fawntia and I went to see Picasso at the Lapin Agile put on by Shoestring Theatre in the Student Union. The play was hilarious! It was written by Steve Martin. Anyway, so I was thinking about giving my parents a copy of it, but when I was reading it back in my room, HAH! Nope... it's all about the drug life on campus, about sex on campus, etc. etc. etc. Use your imagination. There was a morality quiz in there, too... hahah, Fawntia and I didn't know what half the things were in there!

Today, I'm going to volunteer at the hospital, then I'm going to Peer Mentor Training. Maybe I should do homework tonight.

I was chosen to be a part of an academic panel for high school college counselors next Tuesday. This'll be great!

I'm teaching for the Biology Outreach program this quarter. The kids in Grace Harrington's class at Hayhurst still remember me! Wahoo! We're doing neurobiology. Clay models today, sheep brain dissection on Thursday. Exciting.

I went to opening night at the Opera on Saturday. We had sweet seats -- Box 7, which was center of the auditorium, in prime-viewing location (I think they were the most expensive seats in the house!). Anyway, it was William Bolcom's A View from the Bridge a love story about Italian immigrants in Brooklyn. I can't say that I have a passion for opera -- I find it odd that every line must be sung, and I also find it odd that most of the time, the "melody" is completely independent of the background orchestration. There were also parts of the plot that confused me -- the uncle (who acts as a very convincing fatherly figure) is really in love with his niece? The way the characters were portrayed, it makes no sense. Anyway, in all, I had a fabulous night.

I also went to Drag Ball at Reed that night. I went all dressed up in my opera attire -- long black dress, necklace, and fancy earrings. It was nice being the classy one in the room. All the guys showed up in drag, and some girls did, too. It was absolutely hilarious! I think there is a website for the professional group that performed: Poison Waters. Jesse went in drag, and so did John and a bunch of others I know (and thought were conservative!). What a fun night.

On Sunday, Fawntia, Candy, Andrea, Min, and I went to the Rhododendron Gardens across from Reed campus. It was absolutely beautiful! The flowers were all in bloom, and it was a GORGEOUS sunny day! We did our homework by the lake. It was great.

Back to work.
