Happy birthday, Lissa!
In other news, I got the BEST costume for Harvest Ball. It's a medieval-looking bodice and dress. It's dark blue. I got it from the drama department -- they had a closet cleaning sale today. Hahah. Only $10, too! :) And, guess who's playing at our Harvest Ball... They Might Be Giants! Yeah, I didn't know who they were at first.

My schpiel for prospective students is getting rather repetitive. I'm getting tired of repeating the same "quirky" facts about Reed over and over again. I enjoy hosting prospies, but it would really be convenient if I could just "plug them in" and upload information about Reed.
I have math homework tonight about matrices and how they represent mappings in three-dimensional space: skewing, spinning, scaling, and squashing. I didn't know the determinant held so much information. If the number is not zero, it means the matrix is invertible; the absolute value of the number is the factor by which the domain is inflated (or deflated); and the positive or negative sign flips from right-handed to left-handed (or right-tentacled vs. left-tentacled). Wow, we've proved so much about matrices that I never knew before.

Contemplating... math or physics major. Math here is so theoretical, and I think I like things having purpose. Physics is like math, only it includes things like circuits and forces, and the parts of physics that aren't easily understandable for a person with a more "mathy" point of view. I don't know what to do. I think I may consider a 3-2 program in engineering. I think I may enjoy that sort of math/science a lot more than I'm "enjoying" this theory. I think it's all very interesting, but it doesn't come naturally to me... well, at least not as naturally as computational math.

I saw "Labyrinth" the other night. It was interesting and funny at times, but it is seriously lacking a strong, attractive male character... David Bowie, I'll agree, is strong, but he is not at all attractive. "The Princess Bride" is a prime example of an all-around good movie.
Today, I saw the Portland Baroque Orchestra play Handel's Watermusic. Wow, what a great performance. I love bassoons and french horns... and oboes. Monica Huggett -- the artistic director and principal violinist for the PBO -- will be bicycling across the nation for some charity... you can read about it, I think, at www.pbo.org.
We made pizza from scratch tonight. It was delicious. I thought I hated pizza till tonight (well, that and pizza from Pizzicato on Milwaukee).
Well, back to Physics homework.
