I'm not _that_ photogenic. I thought I was... but my eyes look crooked in all the pictures I'm in!!! I don't see any worse, and yet, my eyes look it (no pun intended). Well, we took family pictures again today. I'm not thrilled... oh well. I have about a bazillion more pictures of me and other people.
I still have a couple things to pack before I leave. I have about a half a day left in California. Sniffle sniffle. :.( Reed, here I come! :)

Funny thing, I saw Cheri today when I went to get my hair cut (by the way, I got my hair cut). Sorry, I ruined the surprise.
Lissa and I went to the Irvine Spectrum to go to the Coldstone Creamery. Okay, if you're ever there, DO NOT get the regular sized ice cream... it's just not worth it because you just CAN'T EAT THAT MUCH ICE CREAM. If you get the small one, it's basically the same amount of ice cream... they'll even put it in the regular cup for you! By the way, the following combination tastes pretty good: Cheesecake ice cream, macadamia nuts, and pineapples. Yeah, it sounds weird, but it had a nice balance of sweet, salty, and sour. It worked out for me. Then, after we finished ice cream, I remembered that I didn't get my card stamped. So, we went back. The guy (who, by the way, was really nice and sorta cute) took the card and put FIVE stamps on it... yesirree bob, that means the next ice cream I have at Coldstone (or that Lissa and I get at Coldstone) IS COMPLETELY FREE! Thanks to the guy at Coldstone. Too bad I didn't get a name or phone number! He was pretty nice on the toppings, too. I guess we know which Coldstone will get my business from now on! :)
I have two more days left! Still need to pack two more suitcases! Here's some advice you all need to hear (from Ms. Harper): "important advice for packing: from what I observed from those around me... don't spend too much time on it 'cuz no matter what you will always forget stuff that you need and bring stuff you don't..." Makes sense. I think I'll stop worrying so much... I'll be at a Target soon in Portland, anyway, right?
I got my debit card today! I have yet to activate it... so, don't even think about stealing it and using it... though I think the fact that my picture is on the front will discourage anyone who does not fit my phenotypical makeup.

Oh yeah, and I'd like to encourage everyone to act in a play at some time in your lifetime. It makes you appreciate the work of the actors and actresses so much more. You notice the little things... the facial expressions, the dance moves, the background, the lighting, etc. etc. etc. It was like seeing Cheri and Vernon on stage again... though I'm sure at least Cheri will be on Broadway in the near future.

Quick recap of the day: woke up, morning shower, DSC, AUHSD, Lissa's house, home, lunch picnic in the front yard, nap, shopping at Mainplace with Cyndy, afternoon shower, West Side Story at Elizabeth Howard's with Alana.
Okay, I think my favorite musical may actually be West Side Story. It's just so cleverly done! It's Romeo and Juliet, in the modern world (and the songs are GREAT!). How better can you convey the classic tale of "two starcrossed lovers" to the younger people of today? At the table next to us, this little girl made random comments as the play went on. Normally, I'd be upset, but I thought about the play from her point of view, and I just couldn't be angry. "...it's hard to be angry when there's so much beauty in the world."
I have bought an incredible number of books this summer! I'm going to read them all. I just picked up Catch 22, Slaughterhouse Five, and The Hobbit from Barnes and Noble today. I'm bringing an entire box of books up to Reed. I like books... (but I love math!).

We won the scavenger hunt today at Downtown Disney! ...I don't even eat chocolate that often, but it's all cool... I feel kinda bad, actually, I kinda took over the whole operation... I have a thing for competition... I have to win! I'm like Debbie Schroeder! AAAAaaaAA!!!! Well, that's just me. I guess that's sort of a good thing in life, maybe. It's kinda fun being a HAM, but it's also difficult to stand back and let others lead.
I went to Murph's today, too. I bought The Power of One, which is a pretty good book. Gee, I have many-a-book to read this year. Yay Hum 110!

I finished reading The Iliad. Yes, you all thought it wouldn't happen, but it did! Not bad at the end there... after the plot started moving and some familiar names came back, it went a lot faster. Now, I have time to read other recommended literature before I take off to Reed!

Doing nice things for people is fun. I didn't realize how close my family is until today... as I watched the record spin round and round... It's the little things that make our family special... we do things for each other. If Christina sees something she thinks I'd like, she buys it for me... if I see something that Byron might like, I'd buy it for him. I almost bought him a 2-iron today... good thing I didn't b/c he said he couldn't hit a 2-iron anyway! :) I got my dad a record player... hey, it works, and it only cost two dollars! Well, the point is that I didn't hesitate a moment... and I guess that's the type of relationships we have in my family... we don't show "love" with hugs, kisses, and "I love you"'s. Rather, it's a big money game. And, the surprised look is all the reward one needs to feel completely satisfied.
My grandma made me a blanket. She sews by hand. It must have taken her a long time to make me that blanket. Wow. That's the way she shows her love... since we can't understand each other... she doesn't know English, and I don't know Chinese.
We went to the Jazz concert tonight in Garden Grove. That was fun. The music was really just in the background... catchin' up on old times. Wow. I can't believe I'm leaving in a week. Lissa and I packed a picniic, and Steph joined us at about 7. Parking's pretty bad in historic Garden Grove. The policemen ride horses. Didn't know that. I know that they do in Portland. The most poignant moment of the night... everyone standing up to sing "God Bless America." Wow. There's an aftershock of 9/11 for ya! Free events are fun.
